Award winning Prius and Chevy Volt with a 40 mile all-electric range would definitely not come near Volkswagen’s L1 concept car when it comes to fuel efficiency.
This much talked about concept car is set to be produced in 2010 according to Volkswagen. Its fuel consumption is a measly 1 litre per 100 kilometres or 230 miles per gallon, making it so hard to beat when it comes to efficiency. In fact, this concept car’s one and only true rival is 300 MPG Aptera .Though this excellent Volkswagen car has a truly amazing mileage, its tiny size might be a problem to some. The car is more of a tobaggon than a car and the capacity is just for two people, the driver and one passenger. Like in a small airplane, the single passenger sits behind the driver.
Volkswagen doesn’t expect this car to perform excellently when it comes to sales and one of the reason for this is because the car’s tiny engine will only get the car up to about 75 mph. Aside from this, some people consider the car not very safe compared to others. Though safety level is pretty low, it will have to meet all of the normal safety regulations for cars nonetheless since it is a four wheel vehicle.
The German automobile company Volkswagen will continue releasing details on this much anticipated car but there is one thing the company is certain – this extremely efficient vehicle will be in production by 2010.
